Biography

I grew up in Papillion, NE, where I attended a large high school that provided a wide variety of academic courses to choose from.  My parents always emphasized the importance of education but allowed me the freedom to choose my own path of studies.  I enjoyed studying and excelled in the areas of mathematics and business but was more passionately drawn into the physical sciences; which appealed to my curious nature.

I graduated from Dakota State University in May of 1999 with majors in Technology Management and Physics for Education.  I have been teaching secondary education for the past twelve years in Parker, Lennox, and currently Madison, SD.  Over the years I have taught: Physics, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra, Accounting, Physical Science, World to Work, and Weight Training.  I also love coaching football, as this will be my 16th season and 5th as a head coach.

In addition to teaching and coaching, I have served on numerous committees within our school and joined the South Dakota Coaches Association and Math & Science Association.  It was while working with these organizations that I realized my role as an educator need to extend further than the classroom.  In 2008 I realized I needed to continue to grow professionally, so with the encouragement from my principal, Sharon Knowlton, and former professor, Tom Farrell I decided to pursue my Master's work in educational technology.
